How to Do a Digital Signature with QNB (Qatar National Bank)

SahlSign Team|

"Digital signature QNB" is really three questions wearing one search query. Either you need to fix the specimen signature the bank keeps on file — the one a teller or card system checks your scrawl against — or you have to execute a document QNB itself issued without queueing at a branch, or you're trying to e-sign paperwork that orbits your banking relationship but that QNB never issued: a salary-transfer letter, the lease inside a financing file, an authorization for someone to act on your account.

Each of those has a different correct route, and mixing them up is how people end up pasting a signature image somewhere it carries no legal weight. Here is the map.

1. Add or update the signature QNB has on file

QNB records your specimen on a dedicated Signature Card — a formal bank document listing the account, the signatories, and the handwritten specimens the bank verifies against. That card, not an app doodle, is the reference copy.

The QNB Mobile app does let you update personal information yourself — the bank documents this under the Profile → My Profile → KYC Details menu — but that route covers identity and contact data. QNB's published materials do not describe an in-app draw-your-signature step, so treat the specimen update as a form-and-branch process unless the app offers you one for your account type (menus shift between app versions and customer segments).

Step 1

Check the QNB Mobile app first

Open Profile → My Profile → KYC Details, QNB's documented route for updating your own information. If a signature option appears for your account, use it — it saves the trip.

Step 2

Otherwise, the Signature Card

The specimen lives on QNB's Signature Card form. Complete it, bring your QID, and lodge it at your branch — for company accounts, every authorized signatory signs it.

Step 3

Confirm the new specimen is active

Ask the branch to confirm the card is captured in the system. From then on, tellers and card operations verify against the new signature, not the old one.

Whichever route you take, sign the way you can repeat under pressure — an ornate flourish you produce once and never again will bounce your next branch transaction just like a missing specimen does. If you want to settle on a clean, consistent Arabic signature before committing it to the card, our free Arabic signature generator renders your name in genuine calligraphic styles (Ruqaa, Naskh) you can practice until it's muscle memory — nothing leaves your browser.

2. Sign documents QNB sends you

QNB's strategy for its own paperwork is to pull it inside its own channels rather than email you a PDF. Account opening, eSaving and fixed-deposit accounts, virtual cards, and instant eLoans are all executed end-to-end inside QNB Mobile and Internet Banking, authenticated by your banking credentials plus one-time passcodes; businesses can even update their CR and eKYC records online through the same channels. Where a document still needs ink — certain mandates, corporate resolutions, legacy forms — it's signed at the branch against the specimen card from case 1.

The practical rule: when QNB gives you an in-app or online flow for one of its documents, that flow is the signature. The bank decides which documents qualify, runs the identity checks, and keeps the records. A signature generated anywhere else can't be pushed into their process — and doesn't need to be.

16/2010

Decree-Law No. 16 of 2010 — Qatar's Electronic Transactions and Commerce Law — is what gives electronic signatures and transactions their legal force in Qatar, for the bank's flows and for your own documents.

3. Sign your own bank-related documents

Now the gap neither of the first two cases fills: the documents a QNB process requires from you but that QNB neither issued nor will execute on your behalf. This is where most "digital signature QNB" searches actually end up.

Paperwork the bank asks for — but leaves you to sign

  • Letters and authorizations

A letter authorizing a relative or colleague to deal with your account, an employer's salary-transfer or no-liability letter, clearance confirmations exchanged with a third party.

  • Contracts inside a financing file

The tenancy contract behind declared rental income, the sale agreement behind a vehicle or property financing request, shareholder or partnership agreements supporting a corporate account.

  • Anything with a counterparty

QNB's channels authenticate you to QNB. A contract between you and a landlord, buyer, or employer needs its own signing ceremony — with identity verification on both sides, not just yours.

The shortcut everyone reaches for — dropping a signature image onto the PDF — is precisely the weak option. An image says nothing about who applied it, when, or whether the file was edited afterwards. Under Decree-Law No. 16 of 2010, what an electronic signature must do is identify the signer, evidence their approval, and reveal tampering — which means verified identity, a cryptographic seal, and an audit trail, not pixels.

That is the job SahlSign does. Upload the document, add each signer by email or phone (no accounts needed), and every signer confirms an OTP before signing; the completed PDF ships with a PAdES digital seal, a trusted timestamp, and a bilingual Arabic-English completion certificate — evidence assembled to the standard Law 16/2010 sets. Frequently asked questions

Is an electronic signature legal in Qatar?

+
Yes. Decree-Law No. 16 of 2010, Qatar's Electronic Transactions and Commerce Law, grants electronic signatures and records legal effect. The more verifiable the signature — confirmed signer identity, tamper-evident sealing, an audit trail — the stronger it stands as evidence.

Can I update my QNB signature from the mobile app?

+
The QNB Mobile app documents self-service updates to your personal information under Profile → My Profile → KYC Details, but QNB's published materials don't describe an in-app specimen-signature step. Plan on the Signature Card form at your branch, and use an in-app option if one appears for your account.

Can I just paste a signature image into a bank form?

+
For QNB's own forms, follow QNB's process — the bank sets what it accepts. For documents involving anyone else, an image alone proves neither who signed nor that the file is unchanged. Use a signing platform that verifies identity and seals the document cryptographically.

Does QNB accept documents signed outside its own system?

+
Its own account, card, and financing paperwork runs through its own channels, and you should use them. But supporting documents you supply — leases, sale agreements, authorization letters — are yours to execute; what the bank and any court care about is that they're validly signed under Qatari law.
